Second stage of the JAZZ PO POLSKU Around The World Project is under way

Second stage of the Jazz Po Polsku „Around the World” kicks off April 3 – a project inspired by the feats of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, the traveler. It has taken the form of an international concert tour which has Polish musicians play in 2024 in such remote corners of the World, as China, Canada, India, Japan, Korea, as well as in a few European countries. Its participants include the leading figures of the current young jazz scene. The musicians will give over 60 live shows.

The JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” Project will kick off in April with concerts by the Jazz Juniors festival laureates – Unleashed Cooperation and JAH Trio. Unleashed Cooperation will go on a tour around the Balkans between April 4 and 27, and visit Croatia, North Macedonia, Moldova and Serbia, as well as Austria, Hungary and Slovakia, whereas JAH Trio will play at a festival in Canada (Montreal, Odd Sound Jazz Festival) between April 11 and 13. Next, between April 16 and 30, India and Bangladesh will enjoy a tour by the duet – Piotr Damasiewicz on trumpet and Kuba Wójcik on guitar. They will be supported by local musicians, as well host workshops for local students. On April 30 they will take part in the International Jazz Day in New Delhi. April will see Confusion Project, with a guest appearance by an Italian vocalist Simona De Rosa, on tour in China, which includes shows at Blue Note in Beijing and Lincoln Center in Shanghai. On May 18 the Piotr Damasiewicz-Aleksandra Kryńska duet will play at the Festival of Polish Culture in Tokyo. Meanwhile, on June 10 Unleashed Cooperation will play at the Chişinău Jazz Festival in Moldova, and on 26-28 June, Tomasz Chyła Quintet will visit the 30th anniversary Klaipeda Castle Jazz Festival in Lithuania.

In the second half of the year the JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” project will have Polish artists visit equally distant parts of the World, like China, Egypt, Indonesia and Korea. The turn of June and July will a tour in China by a band HoTS. On 3 August the Zagorski/Skowronski/Galas  Trio will perform at the Ubud Jazz Festival in Bali, Indonesia.  At the end of August, Rafał Sarnecki Quartet will play in Chin, among others in Shanghai Lincoln Center and JZ Club in Hangzhou. October and November will see Unleashed Cooperation play at the Etno Jazz Festival in Moldova, JazzInAlbania Festival in Tirana Albania; as well as at the Cairo Jazz Festival, Egipt. The project will conclude in the end of November with a club tour in Korea by Mateusz Gawęda Trio.

The JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” Project is inspired by the feats of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, a Polish traveler who was the first Pole to circumnavigate the World out of his own initiative. Strzelecki went through a remarkable journey in the years 1834-1843, during which he conducted broad geological and geographical research, contributing to the development of knowledge about the contemporary World.

The JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” Project is carried out by the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation in collaboration with Polish diplomatic missions around the World, as well as with a number of local partners. The honorary patronage over the project has been taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its partners include: Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Polish Airlines – LOT, the Industrial Development Agency Foundation and the Institute of Economic Diplomacy Foundation. Media patrons: Polish Radio Program 3 (Trójka), Polish Press Agency, and Jazz Forum.

The JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation is a non-governmental organization presenting a wide spectrum of skills among Polish artists from the younger generation. It helps in establishing cultural collaboration and integrates artistic environments from various countries. It strives for refreshment and consolidation of the image of Polish jazz in the consciousness of foreign audience. Since 2012 the JAZZ PO POLSKU Project has seen 150 musicians play over 350 events in 20 countries. The organized projects include Poland-based shows of both, Polish and foreign artists.
