Poncyljusz / Dani Khan / Trąbczyński Trio will perform on September 25-26 at the International Jazz Festival in Islamabad and Lahore. I will be a meeting of Pakistani and Polish tradition and modernity, melody and rhythm — music in which cultural differences are not an obstacle, but a starting point for a shared language of improvisation. The tour takes place as part of the international JAZZ PO POLSKU “Around the World” project.
The Poncyljusz / Dani Khan / Trąbczyński trio brings together three distinct musical languages and experiences: contemporary guitar improvisation, the jazz tradition of the double bass, and the centuries-old rhythmic tabla tradition of Pakistan. The band created especially for this occasion will perform at the International Jazz Festival in Islamabad on September 25 (Movenpick Sky), and on September 26 in Lahore (Ali Auditorium).

Following the success of the JAH Trio in 2025, it’s time for a special project – a collaboration between musicians from Poland and Pakistan. Musicians will present a unique blend of European jazz with traditional Pakistani music. Two exciting evenings are coming up in Islamabad and Lahore. This project is a perfect example of how music can be a universal language of communication” – says Jakub Krzeszowski, founder of the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation, organizer of the „Around the World” project – an international concert tour in which Polish artists have already performed in 25 countries promoting original music.
The band includes Dani Khan, one of Pakistan’s most renowned contemporary tabla players, representing the Punjab Gharana tradition; Mikołaj Poncyljusz, guitarist, composer and producer associated with the jazz, improvisation and experimental music scenes in Warsaw, Poland; and Tymon Trąbczyński, an acclaimed double bassist, associated with various projects and contemporary jazz ensembles; also from Warsaw, Poland. The trio’s music unfolds in real time, somewhere between composition and improvisation, between European jazz and the rhythmic traditions of the Indian subcontinent. Guitar and double bass create an open harmonic space in which Dani Khan’s tabla becomes not simply a rhythmic instrument, but a fully-fledged voice in the musical narrative.
Dani Khan (Kashif Ali Dani), is one of Pakistan’s most renowned contemporary tabla players, representing the Punjab Gharana tradition. A disciple of Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan, he has performed on major stages and at festivals in the UK, USA, China, Europe and the Middle East. He is also a founding member of Jaubi, a group known for combining the classical music traditions of South Asia with jazz and contemporary improvisation.

Mikołaj Poncyljusz, is a guitarist, composer and producer associated with the jazz, improvisation and experimental music scenes in Warsaw, Poland. He is a member of numerous projects including Light Star Guiding, and his music combines jazz improvisation with ambient textures, experimentation and a constant search for new sounds. He has collaborated with musicians from both the Polish and international improvisation scenes.

Tymon Trąbczyński, is an acclaimed Polish jazz double bassist, associated with projects including Aga Derlak Trio and Kuba Banaszek, as well as numerous contemporary jazz ensembles. He is a laureate of several jazz competitions in Poland and abroad and has developed his skills at prestigious institutions including Jazz Campus Basel, where he worked with leading musicians from the international jazz scene.
Concerts ar part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU “Around the World” project. The project began in May 2023 as an international concert tour, during which Polish artists perform in distant corners of the world, promoting original music. It is inspired by the achievements of Polish traveler Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who in the mid-19th century became the first Pole to circumnavigate the globe. So far, more than 250 events have taken place in 25 countries across 3 continents.
The JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation is a non-governmental organization presenting the broad spectrum of possibilities of young-generation Polish artists. It supports international cultural cooperation and integrates artistic communities from many countries. The foundation aims to refresh and strengthen the image of Polish jazz among international audiences. Since 2012, more than 500 events have taken place in 25 countries under the JAZZ PO POLSKU banner, featuring over 200 musicians. The foundation also organizes concerts in Poland featuring both Polish and international artists.
