„Our music is co-created by all the band members. We try to achieve a sound that transcends the boundaries between diverse music genres in a „non-obvious” manner by being sensitive and honest towards issues that are really dear to us all. Considering our numerous music roots, our sound has been described as Electro – Trance – Folk – Free Jazz with a noticeable 1970’s vibe …. That’s quite a good description that, to a certain degree, we agree with”, Mikołaj Poncyljusz, Light Star Guiding’s guitarist.
LIGHT STAR GUIDING has been a part of the Polish music scene since 2018. A year after forming they released their self-titled debut album that was received with a wide and positive response from both fans of jazz/improvised music and the media. One of their first live shows took place at the „Tchnienia” festival, where they were joined on stage by Hania Rani, who is considered as one of the most important modern Polish female composers. The band members are well-known musicians in the jazz and alternative scenes. They make an odd collective of energetic and crazy personalities, whose mix guarantees unique and remarkable music and, what has been described as “atomic” vibes at their live shows. They consist of: Ray Dickaty – Tenor Sax/Flute, Mikołaj Poncyljusz – Guitars, Michał Załęski – Keyboards, Bass Guitar and Moog and Dominik Mokrzewski – Drums.
The LIGHT STAR GUIDING concert tour of India is organized by the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation as part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” project and its latest edition entitled “Destination Asia”. The “Around the World” project kicked off in May 2023 and has taken the form of international concert tours involving Polish artists performing in the farthest corners of the World, promoting their original music. The entire concept is inspired by the feats of the famous Polish traveler, Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who was the first Pole to circumnavigate the World in the 1800s. So far the project has seen over 200 events in 22 countries taking place on 3 continents. This year’s edition is devoted to Asia and concludes a summary of a decade-long presence of Polish jazz musicians within the JAZZ PO POLSKU projects in the Asian markets that have been organized regularly since 2014.
The JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World/Destination: Asia” is organized by the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation and co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund. The India concerts are partnered by the Polish Institute in New Delhi. The project’s logistics partner is the Polish Air Lines (LOT). The honorary patronage over the project is held by Poland’s Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski. Media patrons: Dwójka Polskie Radio, Warsaw Insider, Jazz Forum.
