JAZZ PO POLSKU Around the World project starts now!

JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” project will take the form of an international concert tour. As part of it, leading Polish jazz musicians from the younger generation will give over 100 concerts on 4 continents. The project kicked-off in May and will last three years. It is inspired by the achievements of the Polish traveler – Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who was the first Pole to circumnavigate the World.

As part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” project, over the next three years Polish jazz artists will visit 20 countries and play over 100 concerts on 4 continents. It will be attended by the leading Polish artists of the independent jazz and improvisation scene, who will perform their original songs. There are also plans to cooperate with local artists, in order to create special events.

„The following year we will play in Asia – China, Japan and Vietnam, but also in several European countries – Albania, Croatia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia; as well as in Canada. In the following years we plan to bring Polish jazz to various parts of the World. You can follow our website and social media channels, where we keep reporting on the progress of the project, presenting more artists and locations. I believe that in the coming years Polish jazz will truly reach the audiences all around the World” says Jakub Krzeszowski, founder of the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation and “Around the World” project. Further performers and details of concerts will be announced on an ongoing basis on the website jazzpopolsku.pl.

The JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” project is inspired by the achievements of the Polish traveler Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who was the first Pole to circumnavigate the World out of his own initiative. Strzelecki made an extraordinary journey in the years 1834-1843, during which he conducted extensive geological and geographical research, contributing to the development of knowledge about the modern World.

“Strzelecki was one of the few Poles who managed to break out from Poland and have an impact in today’s World image. Alongside Chopin and Curie-Skłodowska, he was one of the few who had the opportunity to see a different world in the mid-nineteenth century. He conducted extensive geological research on many continents. For his work for the development of world science, he received many awards abroad, including a gold medal from the Royal Geographical Society, and recognition from Charles Darwin himself. In Poland, unfortunately, he was not appreciated during his lifetime,” adds Krzeszowski.

The JAZZ PO POLSKU „Around the World” project is conducted by the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation in cooperation with Polish diplomatic missions around the World as well as with a number of local partners. Honorary patronage is Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Poland. The Foundation’s partners are: PZU Foundation, Industrial Development Agency Foundation, and the Institute of Economic Diplomacy Foundation. The strategic partner is Marshal’s Office of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Patrons: National Chamber of Commerce (KIG), Jazz Forum Magazine, Warsaw Insider.

The JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation is a non-governmental organization presenting a wide spectrum of possibilities of Polish artists of the young generation. It helps in establishing international cultural cooperation and integrates artists from many countries. It strives to refresh and strengthen the image of Polish jazz in the minds of foreign audiences. Since 2012, over 350 events have been held as part of JAZZ PO POLSKU in 15 countries, with more than 150 musicians taking part. As part of the organized projects, concerts of Polish and foreign artists are also held in Poland.
