Mike and Leni Stern on the JAZZ PO POLSKU concert tour

From Feb 26 to Mar 5, 2023 the legendary American guitarist Mike Stern will be on tour in Poland with his wife, Leni Stern. They will be accompanied by Polish musicians – Adam Golicki, Piotr Lemańczyk and Rafał Sarnecki. Musicians will perform among others in Koszalin, Świdnica and Warsaw.

The band’s leader and drummer Adam Golicki invited Mike Stern and his wife Leni to cooperate in his new project. Together with Rafał Sarnecki on guitar and Piotr Lemańczyk on bass, they form Adam Golicki Project feat. Mike & Leni Stern. The artists will play five concerts in Poland, and a special performance in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. The concert tour is organized by the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation.

The group will start the tour on February 26 at the Kartuzy Jazz Bass Days festival. They will continue with the concerts at the Theater Hall in Świdnica Cultural Center (Mar 1), Koszalin Cultural Center (Mar 2), Legendos Klubas Music Theater (Mar 3) in Vilnius and Municipal Cultural Center in Tomaszów Mazowiecki (Mar 4). The band will finish the tour with a performance on March 5 at the Jassmine club in Warsaw.

Mike Stern is one of the most respected guitarists of his generation. In a career spanning over four decades, he has collaborated with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Brecker Brothers and John Henderson. He has released 16 original albums (of which 6 were nominated for a Grammy Award). He is an electrifying soloist whose stunning virtuosity combines the power of rock and fusion with sophisticated jazz harmony, tinged with an inherent blues rhythm. For many years, he has been performing on stage together with his wife, Leni Stern. Guitar Player magazine named her one of the „50 Most Sensational Guitarists of All Time”. She is counted among the leading jazz leaders in the world. Her latest album „Dance” was released in June 2021 and was recorded with musicians from Argentina and Senegal, making it extremely energetic and rhythmic.

Leni Stern was named one of the „50 Most Sensational Guitarists of All Time” in the anniversary issue of Guitar Player magazine, which was released for the magazine’s 50th anniversary. Leni’s pursuit of a music career that spanned more than four decades was in fact a full political act – a practice of strength and rebellion to be a woman and bandleader, electric guitarist and songwriter, as well as an artist who produces her own albums and manages her own career. Leni’s latest album “Dance” will premiere in June 2021. “Dance” was recorded under safe conditions at Shelter Island Sound in December 2020. “Dance” is perfect for those who need music to cleanse themselves of the pandemic blues. This is an album filled with the rhythmic joy of life and a melody that will be hummed by anyone who has listened to this album at least once.

The band also features Polish musicians – drummer Adam Golicki, guitarist Rafał Sarnecki and bassist Piotr Lemańczyk. The musicians have released many albums and performed concerts around the world – from North and South America and European countries to Asia. Adam Golicki has two original albums in his discography, which received excellent reviews from critics. Currently, he works mainly as a session musician and collaborates with bands of various styles. Rafał Sarnecki has spent most of his professional career in New York where he lived and worked as a musician for over a decade. He recorded five original albums, two of which were nominated for the Fryderyk Award. Piotr Lemańczyk is considered one of the greatest European jazz bassists. He recorded eight original albums, which received excellent reviews in the international press. In addition, he participated in the recording of over sixty albums with top artists of the Polish jazz scene.

The concert tour by Adam Golicki Project feat. Mike and Leni Stern is organized by the JAZZ PO POLSKU Foundation, which presents a wide spectrum of Polish and international musicians from the jazz scene. It aims at refreshing the image of Polish jazz music on the international arena through presenting the most interesting bands in a form of concert tours. It also helps in establishing cultural cooperation and brings together artists from many countries.
