Confusion Project on tour in China

In July, Confusion Project, jazz trio from Poland, will be touring in China. The band will give 20 concerts in 12 cities, among other in Beijing, Guangzhou, Harbin, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. The tour will promote the latest album called „Primal” as a part of the Jazz Po Polsku project, promoting improvised Polish jazz music abroad.

Confusion Project is a jazz trio established in 2013 in Gdańsk, North of Poland, and since then they have recorded three LPs and gained a wide recognition in Europe. Their music is considered to be emotional, communicative and neo-romantic. The band’s ambition is to play jazz-fusion music in a fresh, delicate style and to strike a balance between humor and lyricism.

The band will be performing in prestigious theaters, jazz clubs and music academies in the North, Central and South provinces of China. Musicians will also lead workshops about improvisation and creativity for local students. Confusion Project will be performing in the following line up: Michał Ciesielski on piano, Konrad Żołnierek on bass guitar and Adam Golicki on drums. They will be accompanied in a few locations by Chinese rising guitar jazz talent, Jun Xiao, who performed in Poland last year.

„The band will be promoting its third album called Primal, which is a concept-album, a jazz suite divided into chapters. It is a tale of a lonely wanderer, who finds his real nature and primordiality on his journey deep into wilderness” – says Michał Ciesielski about the upcoming tour. „We will also lead the masterclasses, which will present many different ways of exploring the creativity in playing modern jazz music, in the context of rhythmic structure, creating melodies and working on sound”

Confusion Project has gained awards at several jazz competitions in Poland and also became one of the four finalists of the prestigious European Jazz Contest in 2014. In 2016 the trio performed at an international jazz competition “Big Sky” in Moscow – Michał Ciesielski earned 2nd prize in “the best instrumentalist” category. Since its formation Confusion Project has played in Italy, Kazachstan, the Netherlands, Russia and regularly in Poland.

Confusion Project tour is a part of the Jazz Po Polsku Live in China 2019 project and is supported by the Polish Institute – Cultural Service of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing, Consulates General of the Republic of Poland in Chengdu and in Guangzhou, Culture.pl and Plateaux Foundation.
